I. Product Overview


Technical Overview: Monel 4400 G-Type Finned Tubes


The ASTM B163 UNS N04400 Embedded G-Type Finned Tube is a high-performance heat exchange component engineered for aggressive environments where thermal efficiency and corrosion resistance are non-negotiable. This specific configuration utilizes a seamless Nickel-Copper alloy base tube integrated with high-conductivity aluminum fins.


Material Specifications


Base Tube: Seamless Nickel Alloy UNS N04400 (Monel 400) manufactured to ASTM B163 standards. This alloy is renowned for its exceptional resistance to hydrofluoric acid, lye, and seawater, making it ideal for marine and chemical processing.

Fin Material: Aluminum (Al 99.5). Aluminum provides a lightweight, high-thermal-conductivity surface to maximize heat dissipation.


The "G-Type" Embedded Construction:


The "G-Type" (Groot) finning process involves machining a shallow helical groove into the outer wall of the N04400 base tube. The aluminum fin strip is then mechanically tensioned into this groove.


Key Advantages of G-Type Finning:


High Thermal Stability: Because the fin is locked into the tube wall, it maintains excellent heat transfer performance at metal temperatures up to 400°C (750°F).

Mechanical Integrity: Unlike L-foot or tension-wrapped fins, the embedded design prevents the fin from loosening due to thermal cycling or vibration

Atmospheric Protection: The groove is backfilled during the tensioning process, providing a robust bond that resists atmospheric corrosion at the interface.
